Who wants a Daisy Treat???

As promised, here's your opportunity for a Daisy Treat! (a.k.a blog candy) This particular Daisy Treat is a clear stamp set from Rhonna Farrer called Word Art.
As many of you know, I am a student majoring in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. Well... this is finals week and I'm so excited to be nearing the finish line of another semester! Even though I'll start one of my summer classes next Monday :( I'm still anxious to get the summer season started! I LOVE summer, it is my favorite time of the year! I love grilling with family and friends, picking fresh vegetables from my garden, going fishing, or just laying out soaking up some sun! But, I have to say my favorite part of summer is the 4th of July!!! I've always loved this holiday! We always do so much with friends and family during the week of the 4th. My friend's dad is the pyrotechnician for the HUGE fireworks we have at Skyview Lake. The name of their organization is Big Bang Boom! They put on an AWESOME show!!! So since we're family friends we get front row VIP seats right by the fireworks! I'm tellin' ya were so close you can feel the heat!!! This is the highlight of the weekend for me! We also go to our local country radio station's outdoor concert! And of course this is also a great time especially when it's on my birthday (July 3rd). And needless to say there are countless barbecues during the week and maybe a fishing trip too!

Well I could go on and on about how much I love summer and especially the 4th of July, but now it's your turn. So to celebrate the end of the semester and start of sumer I'm offering you the chance to win this awesome Daisy Treat!!! In order to have an opportunity to win this yummy Daisy Treat you need to post a comment describing your favorite part of summer! That's all you have to do! I'll draw a random number this Friday afternoon (5/4) and post the winning comment! Good luck!!!

Dirty Toes!!!

What a beautiful day! It was absolutely gorgeous!!! I had to take advantage of this great weather and spend my day outside! Andy and I went to Earl May's this morning and bought all of the plants and seeds for the garden!!! I spent all afternoon with my toes in the dirt planting tomatoes, potatoes, green beans, sweet peppers, jalapeno peppers, cucumbers, onions, and cilantro. I also planted flowers in the two HUGE pots we have on the deck. Tomorrow I plan on planting some more flowers in the front yard! I can't wait until everything starts blooming and growing! I love fresh garden vegetables! YUMMY!!!

I did spend a little time and money ;) on stamp stuff today. I made a run to Hobby Lobby to pick up some patterned paper. I got the Far East Mat Stack from DCWV and a 12x12 pack of the Magnolia series from My Mind's Eye. I got the Far East paper to make Andy some "suitcase cards" (see previous post) for his trip to China this summer. I have been eyeing the Magnolia paper for a long time and finally decided to cave in and get it! I love the bright fun designs in this series! I can't wait to use it! I also went to Wal-Mart and picked up some Daisy Treats (a.k.a blog candy)! You'll have to come back for a chance to win! I'll be posting very soon!!!!

Hope you also had a great day and enjoyed some nice weather!!

What a week!

This was the last week of regular classes!!!! Yea!!! :) But of course, it's been really busy. I had my finals in my two night classes this week and I'll have the rest of my finals next week.

Andy has also been gone part of this week so I've had to pick up on the stuff that he normally does. Like taking Ber out in the morning!!! It seems that all of those little things add up to a lot of time! He left for Chicago Wednesday morning and was suppose to get home late Thursday night. He called me last night and said that his flight was delayed, then he called me again and said that it was delayed even more, finally he called and said that his flight was canceled and that he couldn't fly out until Friday morning! Poor guy had to spend the night at Chicago O'Hare!!! I've never had to spend the night in the airport, but I imagine it can't be much fun! His flight ended up getting delayed one more time this morning, but he's finally on his way home!!

Every time Andy leaves on a trip I always sneak a note or card into his suitcase. I don't know why I still try to be sneaky because I've been doing this for a few years now! I'm sure he expects to find something in there! But anyways, I still always do it. This is the card that he found in his suitcase for this trip. If I knew that his trip was going to last an extra day I would of thrown in another pair of boxers too!!! ;)

Whoa! Two cards posted in one day!!!

I am so excited!!! Today I finished my last two presentations at school! (say it w/ me)WOOOOOOOO WHOOOOOOO!!! And... I got home early from class, because my friend that I car pool with didn't have her last class! So with my extra time, I went to the grocery store (I've been putting this off for a while;) and I made these two cards! I kinda' struggled with them, but I figured that is because I haven't been stamping a lot lately. So to fix this problem I just figured I will have to stamp more often!!! ;)

Yesterday I went to the $ store to get some things for one of my presentations. While I was browsing around I spotted the "Muchas Gracias" stamp! What are the chances! I was so excited! I think this stamp is so cute! It's not a very high quality stamp, but I figured I would get a dollars worth of enjoyment out of it! ;)
I finally used my "Big Deal Alphabet" set from SU to make the pink card. I got this set to use when I finally get around to scrap booking our honeymoon. But, until then I'll just have to use it for cards! Do you ever do that? Make big plans for something that you buy and then never get around to using it for that purpose! ;) This is probably why the supplies in our scrap rooms grow at an exponential rate!!!
Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping to you!!!

Thanks So Much!!!

Well I really hope that everyone is having a great Saturday! This morning I had to go to Wayne (where I go to school) and help with an Early Childhood Learning Fair. Then this afternoon I took it easy and just hung around the house! It was great! I did watch Andy till my garden... he loves when I supervise!!! ;) I was planning on planting some things tomorrow, but I just checked the weather and it said a 100% chance of precipitation!!! So, probably not planting anything tomorrow either.

I finally used my "Riveting" set today! I got this during Sell-A-Bration when I hosted a party. I really like it a lot. I also really like the pp. I would of never of thought to put this color combo together if it hadn't already been decided for me w/ the pp!!! I really love the bright colors of this card, and of course I loved using my white gel-pen!

Supplies: SU's Riveting, Pumpkin Pie, Pixie Pink, Summer Sun, white gel-pen, Spiral Punch, and Circle punches. The pp is K I Memories, Summer Pop. Sorry I can't remember where the ribbon came from. Probably Michael's...?

My Apologies...

Sorry, I haven't posted since Monday!!! That's really bad!

This has just been such a crazy week. I had a huge presentation due on Wednesday. I had to plan a five day thematic unit. The unit had to cover nine different learning areas each day, and I had to provide examples of graphic organizers, rubrics, and art projects that I would do. I also had to write lesson plans for each day. I tried to combine a lot of different learning areas together (ex. reading & social studies), but I still ended up writing 22 lesson plans!!! So that's what I have been doing along with all of my other end of semester papers, projects, etc.

I do have to admit that last night I wasn't working on homework. My friend Mandey and I went and played BINGO!!! Okay, Okay, I know what your thinking... But, it really was a lot of fun!! Plus I won $20!!! I plan on using this cash to order extra goodies tonight at our Stampin' Up workshop. We have a group that gets together every 4-6 weeks and have a workshop. We all just take turns hosting. This works out quite well!

Okay, back to stamping... After seeing these cute little boxes on Charmaine's blog, I decided to try one. It really was easy once I figured out how to fold the paper! I also changed the ribbon a little bit. The original tutorial said to punch two holes in the back and then lace the ribbon through them and tie it in the front. I couldn't get the ribbon to stay where I wanted it so I punched two more holes in the front of the box and then tied the ribbon through all four holes. I like how this works out because it really holds the box shut.

All supplies are SU's: Cameo Coral, Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, corner rounder, white embossing powder, white gel pen, Bold Butterfly, In Any Event, & Little Pieces

Card Tin

Since I haven't had time to make anything for almost a week now, :( I decided to post this card tin that I made a while back. I never posted it because it didn't turn out quite the way I wanted it to. But now, since I'm drowning in homework, have no time to stamp, and really desperate for something to post... I decided to share it with all of you! I'm not going to explain all of the steps I went through to make this, because I know that you all are so creative and talented and can figure it out on your own. ;) But, what I'm going to do is get off my blog and work on my homework! I have a HUGE presentation on Wednesday night and another one tomorrow night! Only two more weeks until finals!!! Happy stamping to all of you and thanks so much for looking!

Prom Weekend!

No time for stamping this weekend! I had to go help my little sister(Jodi) get ready for her VERY FIRST prom!!! We left Friday night as soon as I got off of work and headed to my family's ranch. I spent all day Saturday with Jodi helping her get ready! I gave her a manicure & pedicure. Took her to get her hair done. Then when we got home she finally fessed up and said that she hated her hair! So I ended up re-doing her hair and then put on her make-up for her! Then we put her in her GORGEOUS dress. I'm such a girly-girl so this is right up my alley! Then before her date picked her up we did a little mini photo shoot! She's such a cheese ball, some of her poses were hilarious! So anyways... I just thought that I would just share with you my excuse for not having any new posts! (The picture below is of Jodi and her boyfriend Ryan.)

Friend

I came across this patterned paper at my MIL's, on Easter Sunday. (We spent the afternoon putting stamp sets together and making cards!) I just thought that it was so beautiful and "springy"!

I really struggled with the layout and design on this one. I'm still not completely satisfied with the card, but it's okay. Some days it just doesn't come easy! Ya' know what I mean? ;)

Supplies: pp by Scrapbook Walls-Rosey Beach House Flower, ribbon- Offray-Poly Fleur Cream, stamp sets from SU- Note Worthy, Doodle That, So Saffron, Blush Blossom, & Old Olive card stock, corner rounder punch, small & large oval punches, circle paper clip, & Cuttle Bug- D'Vine Swirls folder.

Make your own background stamp!

Okay, so I would say that I am a "scrappy" card maker! ;) I hate to waste anything that I think could still be used. This is why I have a jar full of ribbon scraps and a container full of little pieces of patterned paper! So when I was putting together SU's Big Blossom, during Sell-a-bration, I thought that it was a shame to waste all of the rubber pieces that I was cutting away from the image. This stamp particularly had a lot of big pieces to cut away from it! So I started thinking about what I could do with all of my rubber scraps from the stamp sets that I scored during Sell-a-bration! And, this is what I came up with... My "Mosaic" background stamp! All I did was ask my DH to make me a couple of blocks. I asked him to make them 5 1/2 x 6 1/2. I wanted the blocks a little over sized so that I knew that they would be able to completely cover a card front. After I had my blocks (which my DH sanded smooth and rounded the corners, he's the best!) I started cutting out random geometric shapes. After I got the shapes I wanted, I simply peeled the paper off of the sticky side and stuck them down! Now I'm trying to come up with more ideas on how I can use the rest of my rubber stamp scraps! If you have any ideas please let me know, because I still have a lot of scraps!!!

Here's a card I made with my new "homemade" background stamp!

Second Attempt at Doodling

So here's my second attempt at doodling. I have to say that I like the doodles on this card a lot more than my first card. Once I got into the flow of it, I didn't want to stop! It was so much fun!

To create these doodles I used my white gel-pen from Stampin' Up. I found out that the pen works best when it is held straight up and down, and not at an angle. The ink flows a lot better and is continuous. Again, I used the same Basic Grey pp. I love the dots and swirls in the design. I embossed the sentiment from SU's "Small Script" stamp set and tied some clearance Wal-Mart ribbon around it. To add a little more detail, I used my word window and circle punches and added a brad.

BLOG CANDY AT OODABUG ALLEY!!!

If you haven't visited Oodabug Alley yet, you better get there fast! Charmaine is handing out some more of her "oodagoodies"! Even if you don't have a sweet tooth for blog candy (but, I'm sure you do ;) you can check out some of her awesome creations! She is so talented!

Live, Love, Laugh

Here is my first attempt at doodling. Okay, I have to admit that I have been practicing a little in class lately! You should see the margins of my notebook and power point slides!!!;)

I started out with Creamy Caramel card stock and then doodled on that with a white gel pen. I then took my Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Certainly Celery, and Chocolate Chip ink pads and "smeared" them on my card stock. I then blended the colors together with my fingers. My hands were so "inky" when I was finished! I think that this technique gives the card stock depth and makes it look almost leather-like. I then punched my Basic Grey pp and Pretty in Pink card stock with my new spiral punch. Finally, I doodled the sentiment added some ribbon and an over sized brad. The card's different, but I think I like it.

Spring!

Sorry, I didn't get this posted yesterday morning before class. I simply just ran out of time! It's funny how that happens in the morning! ;) I made this card to celebrate the arrival of spring, but it now feels more like winter!!! I actually saw little snowflakes yesterday when I was walking to class! Brrrrrrr! Hopefully my flowers are still okay, I have some that are ready to bloom!

I know that this card is really simple, but I just love the pp and did not want to cover it up. The picture really doesn't do this card justice either. You can't tell in the pic but, I outlined the flower and shaded in some areas with a glitter pen. It has a really nice shimmery look in person.

I hope that you are enjoying some spring weather today!!!

Supplies: Daisy D's, Vine-Passion Multi pp, SU's Tempting Turquoise, Pink Passion, and Season by Season stamp set, dimensionals, white ribbon, and a glitter pen.

Change battery pack...Ahhhhhhh!!!

I just finished making a card, and was going to take a picture of it before the last rays of sunlight disappeared, and then my camera died!!! Dang! I hate when that happens! So, I guess you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see my creation. I'll try to post a picture before I go to class tomorrow morning. Yuck, another all "dayer" at WSC! Tomorrow I have night class :( And to make matters worse Andy is away on a business trip! That means I'll have to come home to a dark empty house tomorrow night! At least I have Daisy, Chopper, & Ber to keep me company! Hope you're having a great night! I'm off to work on homework...or maybe another card! ;)

Easter Blessings

I'm sending an Easter package to my niece and nephews and wanted to include a cute card. This is what I came up with! It was really easy to make after I came up with the idea.

I had also been wanting to try the scalloped edge "thing" with a corner rounder, and thought that this was the perfect card for it. I really liked how it turned out, and it was easy to do.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Supplies: Stamp by Stampendous!, SU's Tempting Turquoise and Pixie Pink card stock, SU's turquoise ribbon, PP-Doodlebug Design Inc.(Pastel Playful Paisley), white gel pen, corner rounder punch, word window punch, mini brad, & polka-dot button.
